Swatchbox Technologies Again Partners with
PPG Industries, Developing a Virtual Color
Tool for Olympic Paint

BOSTON, January 6, 2008—Swatchbox Technologies recently completed its third virtual color application for PPG Industries, an internationally recognized manufacturing company that owns and operates Pittsburgh Paints, Porter Paints and a host of other notable companies. Swatchbox’s latest PPG application, located on the Olympic paint website, allows potential consumers the opportunity to experiment with color combinations from Olympic’s extensive paint line.

“Swatchbox is thrilled to be once again collaborating with PPG, and we look forward to future projects together,” says Mike Brunzell, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Swatchbox Technologies. PPG Industries has been a client of Swatchbox Technologies for years; in this time, Swatchbox has developed virtual color tools for Pittsburgh Paints and Porter Paints as well.

For the Olympic Paint project, Swatchbox joined forces with the Ann Arbor-based media company Enlighten. While Swatchbox worked on coding and developing the application, Enlighten designers perfected the interface, bringing the application full circle. “Enlighten proved wonderful to work with and put forth a fantastic effort,” says Brunzell. “Because of this project, the relationship between Swatchbox Technologies, PPG Industries, and Enlighten has continued to grow and evolve; we would like to see that continue.”

In step with Swatchbox’s track record for creating innovative, virtual color applications, Olympic’s color tool makes selecting paint palettes exciting and fun for the consumer. Users can view hundreds of paint colors online, paint virtual rooms, save projects, and even email saved projects to friends for advice.

The Olympic virtual color tool features several inventive design changes. The tool’s virtual rooms incorporate roll-over spots, which are target-shaped, interactive icons that offer the user information about the current paint color and that particular aspect of the virtual room. Another unique feature is the Olympic Virtual Paint Rack.  This tool allows users to view colors as they are organized on a traditional paint color rack. The user can click on a section of the rack to view individual colors or color groups more closely.
